The Principles of Kimpo College are Creative Mind, Entrepreneurial Mind, and Integrity.

1. The creative mind means original thought, whose natural disposition contains self-confidence. Kimpo College does its best to make the opportunities and environment in which each student's potential ability can be linked to his or her creative mind. Our college's academic traditions which stress researches and explorations originate from this creative mind.

2. Entrepreneurial mind stands for an ambitious and progressive spirit. To have students be surprised by the positive changes made in their inner minds during college life is what our college aims for through dynamic education. The speedy growth and the broad range of our graduates' occupations in the world have something to do with this mind.

3. Integrity is a virtue that can be easily neglected in our society, but it implies a moral and ethical transparency and grows upon social values. Kimpo College cherishes the traditional values in education and teaches the students so that its environment take deep roots in the students' personalities.

Based upon the above three principles, Kimpo College has established four educational policies: humanization, an information-oriented education, cosmopolitanism and pragmatism and has been creating concrete and systematic programs to realize those.

★ A Brief History of Kimpo College

·Backgrounds
The story of Kimpo College is one of growth in response to increased and changing societal needs. It is also a story that is built on a sense of partnership with the local community, Kimpo City.
·The Founder
Shin-Yong Chun, founder of Kimpo College and chairman of Board of Directors, has held the post of President at 5 banks and was also on the committee of the Monetary Board of Korea for 13 years from 1961. During that time he played a pivotal role in the modernization of Korea through a 5-year economic development plan. Ever since, he has been contributing to the nation by cultivating men of ability through education, and has created an institute of higher learning, focusing on producing humanistic collegians of integrity. As a result of his endeavors, Kimpo College was established in 1996.

·Chronology
Professor Tae-Kun Lee was inaugurated as the first President of the College on March in 1996. The college opens its curriculum with 240 students; Dept. of Electronics, Dept. of Electronic Computer, Dept. of Information and Communication, Dept. of Environmental and Civil Engineering, Dept. of Electronic Publishing, Dept. of Tax and Accounting. The college established Dept. of Business English and Dept. of Computer Network and obtained admissions of 240 industry-consigned students in six departments in 1997. Byun Anna Memorial Hall was built in 1998 and the appellation of Kimpo Junioir College is officially changed to Kimpo College. The college achieved recognition as an excellent college through self-supporting efforts from the Ministry of Education in 1998 and established Dept. of Fashion Design, Dept. of Culinary Arts, Dept. of Management and Information Science and Dept. of Music. Dr. Gregory H. Chun took office as the 2nd President of the college and the college was selected as a college excelling in specializing in the following areas: Design Research Center, Korean native food development, customer-oriented education in 1999. Yong-Am Scholarship Information Building was completed and Kimpo Techno-Business Incubator was open in 2000. The 6th Entrance Ceremony of 1,760 students for 2 Divisions(8 majors) and 11 Departments was held in 2001.
